New Diffgram License with Contributor Option (DLv2)

Today I’m excited to share a major update to our open license. The new Diffgram license version 2 (DLv2) is now available. DLv2 was part of a public request for comments (RFC) process and features an all-new contributor option. The intent of is to strengthen our community by making the software available to a greater number of companies and grow corporate contributions.

The highlights of the changes include:

• New contributor license (CL) available at no financial cost. This will allow more companies to contribute and get value from Diffgram.
• Companies under $25M funding or $2M revenue can use Diffgram directly under DLv2. This further makes open use applicable to a larger volume of companies.

DLv2 strikes a balance between making the software widely accessible as commercial open source (COSS), providing more options with the new Contributor license, while also maintaining our ability to engage with customers through MSAs.

The new Contributor License (CL) is now available at no financial cost. MSA customers will receive a financial credit for all contributions.

The CL is ideal for companies looking to integrate their training data system of record (storage, query, labeling, etc.) and to build that 100% match solution while reducing costs to only existing in-house labor.

As an open source technology, Diffgram has kept pace well with competitive options. Diffgram is generally as fully-featured as those offerings and any rough edges can be polished out with small contributions.

As the market continues to change and AI teams are looking for more controllable, cost-effective, and integrated solutions that get the basics right, Diffgram CL provides a great long term option. And if commercial support is needed, we have MSA’s and SLAs available to access core Diffgram engineering resources are affordable rates.

With this new Contributor License, you can validate, plan contributions, and use the technology today. You can improve and make those little changes for your specific cases. In the wake of on-going data breaches and security challenges (e.g. MGM), Diffgram software provides the ability to install, secure, and monitor your own AI Datastore. By bringing everything into one pane of glass you can maintain effective Identity and Authorization controls while giving data science the tools they need.
